Tools for Evolved Makers
Maker-Focused Designs
We go beyond traditional approaches to tools, drawing on proven ideas and methods from across different fields—redefining what each tool can do, and unlocking new possibilities for makers.

Flexible Backing with Strong Grit Bond
Not Just Another Sandwich-Style Foam Sandpaper
Most foam sandpapers are built like a sandwich—abrasive glued onto foam backing. While it looks flexible, the abrasive layer and foam often fail to deform in sync, causing inconsistent contact on curves and fine details.
We eliminate that mismatch by embedding abrasive particles directly into the foam via electrostatic grit coating—creating a single unified structure where grit and foam deform together in perfect sync, delivering consistent contact on every surface.

True Reciprocating Sanding Motion
Before Ours, All “Reciprocating” Sanders Were Faking It
Most so-called reciprocating sanders still rely on a rotary motor converted into back-and-forth motion through gears and linkages. This indirect mechanism introduces energy loss during mechanical transitions, reduces precision, and affects motion consistency.
Taking a different approach, we use a true linear reciprocating motor in a sanding tool. No rotational conversion, no extra linkage systems—just direct, controlled linear motion, for a more direct, responsive, and predictable sanding feel in your hand.

Less Heat Buildup During Cutting
We Put a Turbo Fan into Our Ultrasonic Cutter
Every maker who’s used ultrasonic cutting knows the same tradeoff—super smooth cutting, but heat builds up fast. With ultra-high-frequency vibration, friction can raise temperatures and sometimes cause soft edges or slight melting in certain materials. It’s just part of how the process works.
So instead of living with it, we designed around it. We integrated a 13,000 RPM turbo fan directly into the tool to keep airflow moving through the system while you cut. By actively pulling heat away from the blade area in real time, it helps maintain cleaner edges, more stable control, and a consistently smooth cutting feel from start to finish.
Milestones of Innovation

2026
Growing with the Community
By open-sourcing NeoSander models and more on MakerWorld, we built a vibrant maker community where creators can 3D print, remix, and expand what HOZO tools can do.

2025
From Measurement to Making
NeoBlade marked our expansion beyond precision measurement tools, extending our vision into a broader desktop making direction built around real creative workflows.

2024
Into a Broader Spotlight
With NeoRuler and M-Cube earning iF Design Awards, we made our CES debut in 2024—bringing HOZO’s take on measuring to a much broader audience.

2022-2023
A Neo Way to Measure
After years focused on precision measurement, we introduced NeoRuler—the world’s first modular digital scale ruler at the time, starting our desktop DIY direction.

2019-2021
Adding a New Dimension
From Meazor to Meazor 3D, we evolved from measurement to spatial understanding, helping capture and recreate physical spaces in 3D.

2018
Born in Rochester, NY
From the RIT studio, we launched Rollova on Kickstarter—the world’s first digital rolling ruler, marking the beginning of HOZO.
